About the Brazilian coffee beans in this blend (Brazil Fazenda Da Lagoa):
The geographical location of Fazenda Da Lagoa is 1,100m above sea level near the town of Santo Antonio do Amparo, about 170km southeast of Belo Horizonte in the province of Minas Gerais.
The farm of 2,850 ha is comprised of a natural reserve, woodlands, pastures, and 1,500 ha of coffee trees. Streams from 40 natural springs water the land and gradually converge into two small rivers that mark the borders of the grounds.
With a dedication to creating excellence coffee, only Arabica varieties such as Catuaí, Mundo Novo, Acayá and Catucaí have been selected and are grown on the plantation according to strict sustainable principles.
The farm is also known for its innovative farming approach, which employs modern agricultural techniques based on scientific research carried out on the farm.
About the Colombian coffee beans in this blend (Colombia Garzon Microlot):
This coffee comes from 36 producers in the Garzón municipality of Colombia’s Huila province. Only ripe cherries were picked, and the beans were fermented (for varying amounts of time, depending on the altitude of each farm) and then washed and dried on patios and in some cases also drying silos.
The parchment will then be delivered to the Garzón buying station between August and early September every year; the dedicated dry milling process will take place the first week of December, and the coffee will be shipped out the first half of January the following year.
Garzón, in the center of Huila, has three microclimates: the humid Magdalena River Valley, dedicated to cattle raising; the Llano de la Virgen, an arid grassland; and the mountainous Central Region, which is home to most of the population and many farms. The economy is agriculture-based, with coffee providing 45% of the income and 78% of local jobs. There are 6,838 coffee farms planted with 8,508 hectares of coffee!
